Studio la Città's Beirut Tribute: Collective Show and Basilico Retrospective
The gallery Studio la Città in Verona, in partnership with Tanit gallery from Beirut and gallerist Naila Kettaneh Kunigk, is showcasing a dual exhibition titled 'I am one acquainted with the night' alongside a retrospective tribute to Gabriele Basilico. This exhibition reflects on Beirut's history, linking the civil war from 1975 to 1991, the 2006 Lebanon war, and the 2020 explosion at the Beirut port. Featuring works from fifteen artists, such as Adel Abidin and Shirin Abu Shaqra, the pieces convey themes of struggle and migration, yet also hint at renewal. Basilico, who documented Beirut's evolution and hardships during four visits, is honored through the short film 'Beyrouth Centre Ville,' created by RAI correspondent Tanino Musso.
