Studio la Città presents dual exhibition in Venice's Giudecca Art District

exhibition · 2026-05-04

Verona-based gallery Studio la Città has organized a two-part exhibition within the Giudecca Art District (GAD) program in Venice, exploring temporal dynamics. On the ground floor, Hiroyuki Masuyama presents lightboxes inspired by William Turner's Venetian paintings, overlaying contemporary views onto Turner's 19th-century scenes. Upstairs, the show "Recursions and Mutations" features photographs by Vincenzo Castella and Lynn Davis alongside installations by Jacob Hashimoto and Roberto Pugliese. Davis's glacier photographs from the 1980s capture dramatic transformations, Castella documents urban greenhouses and Finnish forests, and Pugliese's sound installation addresses rising sea levels, directly referencing Venice's fragility. Hashimoto's site-specific work multiplies layers in space, creating shifting visual effects.
