Studio Ghibli's 21 Films to Stream on Netflix from February 1

Netflix will add 21 feature films from legendary Japanese animation studio Studio Ghibli starting February 1, 2020, through distribution partner Wild Bunch International. The films will be subtitled in 28 languages and dubbed in 20, available worldwide except the United States, Canada, and Japan. Toshio Suzuki, producer of Studio Ghibli, stated they listened to fans and decided to make their catalog available in streaming. Studio Ghibli was founded in 1985 by directors Isao Takahata and Hayao Miyazaki, producing 22 feature films. Among them, 'Spirited Away' (2001) won the Oscar for Best Animated Feature in 2002. Aram Yacoubian, Director of Original Animation at Netflix, called it a dream come true. The rollout is staggered: February 1 includes 'Castle in the Sky' (1986), 'My Neighbor Totoro' (1988), 'Kiki's Delivery Service' (1989), 'Only Yesterday' (1991), 'Porco Rosso' (1992), 'Ocean Waves' (1993), and 'Tales from Earthsea' (2006); March 1 adds 'Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind' (1984), 'Princess Mononoke' (1997), 'My Neighbors the Yamadas' (1999), 'Spirited Away' (2001), 'The Cat Returns' (2002), 'The Secret World of Arrietty' (2010), and 'The Tale of the Princess Kaguya' (2013); April 1 completes the set with 'Pom Poko' (1994), 'Whisper of the Heart' (1995), 'Howl's Moving Castle' (2004), 'Ponyo' (2008), 'From Up on Poppy Hill' (2011), 'The Wind Rises' (2013), and 'When Marnie Was There' (2014).
