Studio Fuksas Redesigns Beverly Center in Los Angeles

architecture-design · 2026-05-04

The Beverly Center in Los Angeles reopened on November 1, 2018, following a redesign by Studio Fuksas. Originally opened in 1982 on the site of a former amusement park, the mall became a Hollywood landmark with around 100 fashion stores. The new design by Massimiliano and Doriana Fuksas, winners of a 2012 competition, features a curvilinear facade with variable-curvature expanded metal mesh that reflects the city's colors and incorporates vertical LED lighting. The interior continues the fluid theme with three levels around a central atrium, enhanced by skylights that provide uniform natural light. The project echoes the firm's Capo Grande Tower in Koper, Slovenia. Studio Fuksas is also working on the Regione Piemonte headquarters in Turin, IsMolas Golf Resort near Cagliari, Rhike Park in Georgia, Guosen Securities Tower in Shenzhen, and CBD Cultural Center in Beijing.
