Studio ++ Creates 10,000 sqm Public Garden on Florence's Arno River

In Florence, the artistic collective Studio ++ (Fabio Ciaravella, Umberto Daina, Vincenzo Fiore) has created 'Terzo Giardino', a 10,000 square meter public art intervention on the banks of the Arno River. The project is part of Progetto RIVA, an interdisciplinary platform promoted by Associazione Mus.e under the artistic direction of Valentina Gensini, involving Tempo Reale, Fondazione Studio Marangoni, and Radio Papesse. The work focuses on biodiversity and reclaiming underused space, acting on spontaneous vegetation along the riverbanks. It evokes the geometry of the Giardino dei Semplici and references Gilles Clément's 'Third Landscape' concept. The garden has two areas: a geometric parterre and a section with walls of spontaneous vegetation creating 'rooms on the river' for contemplation. The initiative precedes the 50th anniversary of Florence's 1966 flood and follows 'The Bridge of Love' installation during Pitti Immagine Uomo. Future plans include an artist residency at Le Murate Progetti Arte Contemporanea to create a public archive on the Arno River's history.
