Studio Ben Allen Renovates 235 m² Country House in UK

architecture-design · 2026-04-28

Studio Ben Allen has completed 'A Place in the Country,' a 235 m² house renovation in the United Kingdom in 2024. The project, curated by Hadir Al Koshta, reconfigures the entrance hall and stairs, adding sweeping oak steps. A new cocktail library, carved from an oblong form with oak and blue-stained surfaces, becomes the heart of the home. Axial views connect the library, dining hall, conservatory, and landscape beyond. The design team included Ben Allen, Marco Nicastro, and Tom Richardson. Structural engineering was by Format, main contractor Sprinks Construction, with joinery by Tim Gaudin, metalwork by Fish Fabrications, and concrete by Concreations. Clients are Tobi and James. Photographs by French + Tye.
