Student Housing Project on a Garage Roof in Ocozocoautla de Espinosa

architecture-design · 2026-05-02

Estudios 46B, a student housing initiative covering 93 m², was developed by Carmelina & Aurelio Taller de Arquitectura. Instead of expanding vertically, the project creatively utilizes the roof of an existing 72 m² garage, presenting a unique method for urban densification. Situated in Ocozocoautla de Espinosa, Mexico, this innovative project was finalized in 2025, challenging traditional concepts of student accommodation and land utilization in intermediate cities. The design was led by architects Gilbert Aurelio Lopez Santiago and Jessy Carmelina Victorio Robles, who sourced materials from Cemex, Interceramic, and Pinturas Berel. Valentina Díaz oversaw the project's curation.
