Stüda: modular furniture line inspired by Lego bricks
Italian design studio NINE, founded by Paolo Emilio Bellisario, Matteo Di Sora, and Emilia Caffo in Frosinone, has launched Stüda, a modular furniture system textured with studs compatible with Lego bricks and most construction blocks on the market. The furniture, made of Corian, allows users to continuously change its surface shape and color by attaching bricks, turning play into a design element. Stüda was developed with Italian company MOOW, blending artisanal Made in Italy quality with technology. The name is a mash-up of the Lego element 'stud' ironically translated into Swedish. The line aims to let AFOL (Adult Fans of Lego) and their children customize their homes, leaving messages or creating accessories like vases and frames. Di Sora explains that the brick's modularity makes it a natural fit for furniture, adding transformability, interaction, and personalization to any project. The studio, all AFOL themselves, wanted a white volume to interact with and display their creations.
