Stuart Shils and John Dubrow present contrasting landscape exhibitions in New York galleries

From November 20, 2008, to January 10, 2009, Stuart Shils displayed nearly 20 paintings at Tibor de Nagy Gallery, located at 724 Fifth Avenue, NYC. Concurrently, John Dubrow presented around 30 small landscapes at Lori Bookstein Fine Art from January 8 to February 7, 2009, at 37 West 57th Street, NYC. Both artists, who are in the mid-stage of their careers, concentrate on landscape painting. Shils employs layered colors and extensive reworking in his works, such as 'Umbria Farmhouse on the Road up to Corciano' (2008) and 'From Ray’s Kitchen Window, Near Union Square' (2008). Dubrow’s efficient brushwork in pieces like 'Weaver’s Farm 1' (2008) effectively captures light, allowing for a comparison of their distinct styles.
