Stronger Peripheries launches Italian call for performative arts with €33k budget
Stronger Peripheries, a European project co-funded by the Creative Europe Programme of the European Union, has launched its first Italian call for artists, companies, and collectives working in performative and participatory arts. The selected artist will receive a €33,000 budget for a residency and research path leading to an international co-production with three partner organizations: Pergine Festival (Trento, Italy), L'arboreto – Teatro Dimora di Mondaino (Rimini, Italy), and Pro Progressione (Budapest, Hungary). The call is themed 'Daily Bread' and focuses on community-engaged creation. A shortlist of five candidates will be invited to a workshop from July 2 to 5, 2022, at Pergine Festival, where the final winner will be chosen. The winner will participate in four residencies (two research, two creative) in Pergine Valsugana, Budapest, and Mondaino. The new production will debut at Pergine in summer 2023, then tour to Hungary and other Stronger Peripheries network countries. Applications are open until April 8, 2022. Stronger Peripheries began in 2020 with a four-year plan, uniting fourteen peripheral European cultural organizations. It is the first action of the Southern Coalition, an informal network connecting local cultural experiences in Southern Europe, aiming to overcome isolation and strengthen skills of artists, cultural professionals, and audiences through training, international scouting, and 12 tandem co-productions with local communities.
