Street artist Rebor unveils 'Alla ricerca di un riparo' from his garden during lockdown

During Italy's national museum closures due to the coronavirus pandemic, street artist Rebor, known as 'the gentle street artist' for his respect of public spaces, has adapted his practice. Instead of installing his new work in the streets of Turin as usual, he is previewing it online and displaying it in his own garden. The piece, titled 'Alla ricerca di un riparo' (In Search of Shelter), is a large emergency triage tent meant to be walked through and viewed from inside. It will be placed in the city once the emergency ends. Rebor explains that the current crisis alters perception and sensitivity, risking misinterpretation of his optimistic message. The tent features a blue roof symbolizing the sky and freedom, a constant interior light representing hope and the courage of researchers and medical staff, and his signature 'Rebor Pink' for a dreamlike atmosphere. The work emphasizes human fragility and the power of images in a society of spectacle. Rebor chose to reverse his usual process by releasing images first, respecting national regulations. The piece is currently a 'potential' work circulating via social media.
