Street Artist Mister Dada Transforms Reggiano Apennines into Open-Air Gallery

artist · 2026-04-27

Daniele Castagnetti, known as Mister Dada, is turning the Reggiano Apennines into a vast open-air gallery. The project, conceived during the 2020 lockdown and postponed to 2023-2024, involves painting murals on homes and businesses to narrate local history, traditions, and culture. Castagnetti distributed flyers in bars and restaurants along the Apennines, receiving around 50 requests. The area spans municipalities like Castelnovo ne' Monti, home to the Pietra di Bismantova, to the Enza River and Dolo stream. Murals will celebrate mountain themes, natural beauty, and local life, aiming to create a tourist route. Castagnetti is known for earlier murals in Reggio Emilia: 'Come se piovesse' (ten meters high) at San Pellegrino library, and 'Ubuntu' at the Carlo Alberto Dalla Chiesa middle school (2018) for Nelson Mandela's centenary. His work focuses on inclusion and territorial enhancement.
