Street art murals revitalize six Tuscan villages in Garfagnana
Six municipalities in the Garfagnana area of Tuscany—Barga, Castiglione di Garfagnana, Fosciandora, Gallicano, Pieve Fosciana, and Villa Collemandina—have been revitalized through a street art project. International artists Bastardilla, Ericailcane, Hitnes, and Zed1 created seven murals inspired by local folklore, nature, and history. The initiative, promoted by the Regional Council of Tuscany and coordinated by the association Start Attitude and its founder Gian Guido Grassi, aims to fuse contemporary art with local identity as part of an urban regeneration effort. Grassi, whose grandfather Alberto was born in Poggio, expressed pride in his roots and hopes to contribute to the region. The live painting operations took place over recent months, and the murals are now publicly visible.
