Street Art Interventions Dialogue with Siena's History in #CantiereComune

In 2017, Siena launched its public art project #CantiereComune, which was financed by Regione Toscana and Comune di Siena. The initiative showcased a contemporary art exhibition outside the museum, curated by Michelina Simona Eremita. Additionally, seven urban art interventions were organized in the historic center, curated by Gaia Pasi under the theme Presenti | Assenti, creating a dialogue between seven artists under 35 and notable historical figures associated with Siena. With backing from Soprintendenza ai Beni Storico Artistici di Siena and local citizens, each intervention included QR codes for further details. Among the prominent works were Benedetto Cristofani’s portrayal of Cecco Angiolieri, Giulio Bonasera’s treehouse tribute to Italo Calvino, and Opiemme’s snail for Federigo Tozzi.
