Street Art for Rights 2024: Three Female Artists Honor Courageous Women in Rome's Suburbs

festival-fair · 2026-04-26

The 2024 edition of Street Art for Rights, titled 'Brave!', brings three female street artists to Rome's XV Municipio (Giustiniana and Labaro districts) from December 13 to 29. Alice Pasquini, Giò Pistone, and NAÏS each create a mural dedicated to a woman symbolizing courage and freedom: Mahsa Amini (interpreted by Pasquini, focusing on sisterhood), Frida Kahlo (by Pistone), and Virginia Woolf (by NAÏS). The project, founded in 2021 by Giuseppe Casa and curated by Oriana Rizzuto, is organized by Associazione Culturale ARTmosfera with MArteSocial and MArteGallery, funded by the Comune di Roma's 'Culture in Movimento 2023-2024' public notice. Murals are being painted at Istituto Comprensivo Statale 'La Giustiniana', Centro Anziani 'La Giustiniana', and Biblioteca 'Galline Bianche'. A collateral program includes workshops with the artists, a photography exhibition on Rome's street art (at Centro Anziani Giustiniana until Dec 28), and a sound art and augmented reality installation by The Astronaut (at Biblioteca Galline Bianche until Dec 29). The initiative aims to create an open-air urban museum while fostering community and human rights awareness.
