Street art festival transforms Tuscan village of Riparbella with six murals

festival-fair · 2026-04-26

The historic Tuscan village of Riparbella, in the province of Pisa, is undergoing a transformation through street art, with six large murals unveiled on historic buildings during the La Collina delle Fiabe festival. Organized by StarAttitude and curated by Gian Guido Grassi, the festival will animate the village with exhibitions and events on October 5 and 6, 2024. The murals are located in various piazzas: in Piazza Baldasserini, artists Zosen Bandido and Mina Hamada have created works; in Piazza Borgo di Sotto, Zed1 (Marco Burresi) painted dreamlike creatures; in Piazza Matteotti, Daniel Muñoz and Gio Pistone contributed black-and-white and bold color pieces; and in Piazza Marconi, Moneyless produced an abstract composition inspired by Kandinsky. The festival also extends to five local wineries—Quercialuce, Caiarossa, La Cava, and Prima Pietra—each hosting contemporary art installations by artists including Simone Guideri, Muz, Enrico Bani, Gio Pistone, and Zed1. Grassi noted that artists were asked not to create preliminary sketches, instead spending initial days exploring the territory and engaging with the community. The project aims to create a harmonious, diverse artistic path that changes the face of the village's streets and squares.
