Straperetana 2024: Supernaturale Transforms Abruzzo Village into Contemporary Art Hub

From July 14 to August 18, 2024, the eighth edition of Straperetana, titled Supernaturale, turns the tiny Abruzzo village of Pereto into a contemporary art destination. Founded in 2017 by Paola Capata and Delfo Durante, the event reactivates the 600-resident village through a diffused exhibition across streets, squares, and historic buildings like Palazzo Maccafani and Palazzo Iannucci. This year's theme explores the symbiotic relationship between Pereto and its surrounding nature, curated with Annalisa Inzana. The exhibition features 17 Italian and international artists, including Francis Alÿs, Hamish Fulton, Nico Vascellari, Salvo, and Patrick Tuttofuoco, among others. Works range from Fulton's documentation of a 2,838-kilometer walk from Bilbao to Rotterdam to Tuttofuoco's lightning capture in Space Time (Honolulu). The route starts at Palazzo Maccafani, winds through the village, and ends at Palazzo Iannucci, with site-specific installations by Numero Cromatico, Agostino Iacurci, and Davide D'Elia. The opening is scheduled for July 13, 5-8 PM.
