Story-board: Digital Creation Processes at Scam, Paris

exhibition · 2026-04-23

Between January 29 and June 30, 2003, the Scam (Société civile des auteurs multimédia) in Paris presented "Story-board," an exhibition organized by Michel Jaffrennou that featured the works of eleven artists. The exhibit examined the influence of computer and software metaphors on the evolution of artistic aesthetics. Participating artists included Ève Ramboz, Cécile Babiole, Alain Escalle, Jaffrennou himself, Catherine Nyéki, François Schuiten, and Lolo Zazar. Ramboz's piece "Primitive" utilized Flame software, while Babiole created interactive spaces with Max SP. Escalle's work, "Le Conte du monde flottant," offered an apocalyptic perspective. Jaffrennou's "Dragon aux dix-mille icônes," Nyéki's interactive "MU Herbier," Schuiten's storyboard for "Taxandria," and Zazar's shot breakdowns for "A Donf !" were also featured. Critic Louis-José Lestocart remarked that the dominance of technical aspects sometimes stifled creativity.
