Stop-motion short 'Tokri' tells tender father-daughter story set in Mumbai
Suresh Eriyat and Studio Eeksaurus have released 'Tokri (The Basket)', a stop-motion animated short made entirely with plasticine characters. The film follows a young girl in Mumbai who accidentally breaks her father's cherished watch and tries to earn money to repair it by selling handmade straw baskets on the street. Though her plan doesn't go as expected, the story ultimately highlights the strength of family bonds. Eriyat drew inspiration from a personal experience: while stopped at a traffic light, a girl approached him to sell baskets, and he dismissed her without thinking. The resulting guilt and reflection led to this touching work.
