Still Processing: AI and Human Cognition Explored at NXT Museum

The NXT Museum in Amsterdam presents 'Still Processing', an exhibition curated by Bogomir Doringer that investigates parallels between human and machine intelligence through audiovisual installations and AI-generated worlds. Running until October 5, 2025, the show features works by Balfua, Boris Acket, Children of the Light, Jeffrey Lillemon, Gabey Tjon a Tham, and Rosa Menkman. Balfua's 'Slollaleia' introduces Sayssiworld, a CGI and AI universe of shape-shifting creatures called Slollas. Children of the Light's 'All-Together-Now' presents five suspended rings orbiting like a black hole, referencing the 2019 black hole image. Jeffrey Lillemon's 'Simulation in Blue' features an AI-led jazz band that descends into fascinating dissonance. Gabey Tjon a Tham's 'Red Horizon' uses luminous pendulums to create afterimages that linger on the retina. Rosa Menkman's works critique digital image processing: '0010 DE/CALIBRATION ARMY' exposes historical racial biases in color calibration using Caucasian female faces, while 'DCT:Syphoning' personifies pixels within JPEG compression. The exhibition culminates in a reflection on what technology reveals and conceals.
