Steven Meisel's First Major Retrospective Opens in La Coruña, Spain

A rare retrospective of fashion photographer Steven Meisel, titled 'Steven Meisel 1993 A Year in Photographs,' has opened at the MOP Foundation in La Coruña, Spain. The exhibition focuses on 1993, a pivotal year when Meisel shot 28 Vogue covers and over 100 editorials. The show includes early photographs taken at age 12 and spans his career, highlighting his role in shaping 1990s fashion imagery. Meisel, born in New York in 1954, is known for launching top models like Linda Evangelista, Christy Turlington, and Naomi Campbell. He worked extensively for Vogue Italia and L'Uomo Vogue, often controversially, and shot Madonna's 1992 book 'Sex.' The exhibition space was designed by Elsa Urquijo for the MOP Foundation, led by Inditex heiress Marta Ortega Pérez. The show runs until May 1, 2023.
