Steve McCurry's Food Photography Debuts in Forlì

Steve McCurry, the renowned photographer born in Philadelphia in 1950, is the subject of a new exhibition at the Musei San Domenico in Forlì. The show, produced by Civitas with support from the Fondazione Cassa dei Risparmi, opens on September 20, 2019, ahead of the Festival del Buon Vivere (September 21-29, 2019, in Forlì and Romagna). The exhibition focuses on food as both a universal necessity and a marker of cultural diversity. Curator Monica Fantini describes McCurry's work as seeking the universal in the particular, capturing individuals or entire communities through meals or market scenes. The exhibition is divided into five sections: the life cycle of food, bread as a primary food, labor in plantations and at sea, food transformation, and the cohesion food generates. Most works are world premieres. McCurry will speak on September 20 at 6:30 PM at the Chiesa di San Giacomo as part of the Experience Colloquia series. The exhibition runs from September 21, 2019, to January 6, 2020.
