Steve McCurry Jurors 11th All About Photo Awards Winners
The All About Photo Awards announced winners of its 11th competition themed 'The Mind's Eye', hand-selected by legendary photographer Steve McCurry. McCurry chose 45 winning images from photographers across 15 countries and four continents. Matt McClain won First Place for 'Window to the Past', depicting a woman in Colonial Williamsburg, Virginia, linked to Thomas Jefferson's legacy ahead of the US 250th anniversary. Second Place went to Brooke Shaden for 'Obscura', a self-portrait exploring social sharing. Third Place was awarded to France Leclerc for 'Celestial Ladies', capturing women of the Celestial Church near the Benin/Togo border. Fourth Place: Javier Arcenillas for 'Tunisia', a street photograph of a sleeping woman on a train from Carthage. Fifth Place: Beamie Young for 'Bringing Home the Birds', showing boys with caged birds in Havana's Casablanca ward. Merit awards included Andrew Newey's 'The Honey Hunters of Nepal' documenting Gurung honey hunters in the Himalayas, Marie Kent's 'Mending Nets' along the Thu Bon River in Hoi An, Vietnam, Jiri Kostal's 'Under the sky' and 'Drawing by driving' from the Czech Republic, Tommi Viitala's 'When The Angels Cry' in Helsinki, Hervé Boutrouille's 'Wheels' in Berlin, Robert Lie's 'She and The Popes' in Lourdes, Marco Di Marco's 'Earth's Veins' capturing lava channels at Sundhnúkagígar in Iceland, and Khaichuin Sim's 'Touched by Light' and 'Dancing with Giants' from the Dolomites and open ocean respectively.
