Steve Della Casa appointed director of Turin Film Festival's 40th edition

Steve Della Casa, born Stefano in Turin on May 25, 1953, has been named artistic director of the 40th "extraordinary" edition of the Torino Film Festival. He succeeds Stefano Francia di Celle, who chose not to renew his contract and will return to Rai after a two-year leave. Della Casa is a journalist, director, and co-founder of the Festival Cinema Giovani—later renamed Torino Film Festival—which he directed from 1998 to 2002. He also served as president of Film Commission Torino Piemonte from 2006 to 2013 and directed the Roma Fiction Fest until 2014. Since 1994, he has hosted Hollywood Party on Radio Rai3 and teaches film history at the Accademia d'Arte Drammatica. His publications include essays on cinema published at Centre Pompidou, Museum of Modern Arts of New York, and George Lincoln Center. His documentaries have screened at festivals in Venice, Rome, and Locarno, winning a Nastro d'Argento in 2016. Recent works include Django & Django: Sergio Corbucci Unchained (co-directed with Luca Rea, narrated by Quentin Tarantino) and Siamo in un film di Alberto Sordi? (co-directed with Caterina Taricano, featuring Giuliano Montaldo, Nicola Piovani, Ascanio Celestini, Vincenzo Mollica, Riccardo Rossi). The festival's 40th anniversary edition aims to reaffirm its identity while marking a transition between tradition and innovation.
