SteReal: The Dreamer Street Artist from Milan

Stefania Marchetto, known as SteReal, is a Milanese street artist born in 1987. Her passion for drawing began in childhood, leading her through an artistic education until personal circumstances forced her to abandon art for office work. At 31, her life changed when she was invited to paint a mural at a famous street art festival, marking the birth of SteReal. Her latest work, a collaboration with another Italian artist in the Arcella district of Padua, features a portrait of Galileo Galilei. The project, created on a large wall belonging to the parish of San Carlo Borromeo, involved ten intense days of work. SteReal describes her style as 'realistic dreamer,' emphasizing the importance of eyes and contrasts in her paintings. She aims to convey hope, courage, and perseverance, drawing from her own story of leaving a corporate job to pursue art. Her first mural was in September 2018 in Calabria, after which she quit her job. SteReal uses spray cans, brushes, and markers, often researching the location and history before creating her works. A memorable moment occurred during the inauguration in Padua when the parish priest invited her and her colleague to the altar, receiving a standing ovation from the congregation. She plans to create an artistic movement in Milan, combining her art with her personal story to inspire others to follow their dreams.
