Stefano Raimondi appointed youngest director of ArtVerona fair

Stefano Raimondi (born 1981) has been named the new director of ArtVerona, becoming the youngest artistic director in the fair's history. He succeeds Adriana Polveroni, who led the fair for three years since 2017. The 16th edition of ArtVerona is scheduled for October 16–18, 2020. Raimondi, a curator and art promoter, has directed The Blank Contemporary Art network since 2010, organizing the ArtDate contemporary art festival in Bergamo. He served as curator at GAMeC – Galleria d'Arte Moderna e Contemporanea di Bergamo from 2011 to 2017, curating solo shows for artists such as Rashid Johnson, Andrea Mastrovito, Ryan McGinley, and Pamela Rosenkranz. He also co-founded BACO – Base Arte Contemporanea and curated exhibitions for Francesco Arena, Adrian Paci, and others. Raimondi has published on art and nanotechnology and taught at the Accademia di Belle Arti di Verona from 2015 to 2017. He is a member of IKT – International Association of Curators of Contemporary Art. In his first statement, Raimondi emphasized continuity with previous editions while aiming to expand the fair's international dialogue and focus on accessibility, innovation, and community engagement. Under Polveroni, ArtVerona strengthened its role in the Italian art scene, with initiatives like the ArtVerona Roadshow for collectors and the #BackToItaly campaign supporting Italian art. The fair also developed an off-circuit of exhibitions and events throughout the city.
