Stefano Ogliari Badessi installs goat sculpture in the Dolomites

artist · 2026-04-27

Artist Stefano Ogliari Badessi (S.O.B., born 1984 in Crema) has created a public sculpture titled 'Capra Lichenia' in the Dolomites, at the foot of Monte Cristallo, for the zero edition of the Genesis event. Genesis is a new gastronomic festival strongly connected to nature, organized by Ludovica Rubbini and Riccardo Gaspari of the SanBrite restaurant in Cortina, currently the best in the area, and funded by Fideuram. The sculpture, a large goat form, is designed to withstand and change over time, paying homage to the careful management of the woods owned by the Regole d'Ampezzo, an ancient collective property institution, and to the tradition of livestock farming (cows and goats) that enriches the valleys. Badessi previously completed a workshop with Swatch and the Guggenheim in Venice at the Isola di Certosa, where he presented two self-moving sculptures. For this project, he lived in his van for over a month in a mountain pasture, working almost alone to realize the piece. The work was unveiled to Genesis participants who camped overnight in the clearing where the sculpture stands.
