Stefano Lodovichi's Harlem Photo Exhibition at Rome's Cinema Quattro Fontane

To coincide with the Italian release of A. V. Rockwell's film A Thousand and One, production and distribution company Lucky Red presents the photography exhibition Harlem, a Magic Theatre by director Stefano Lodovichi at Cinema Quattro Fontane in Rome. Curated by Umberto Pastore and Mattia Morandi, the show offers an outsider's perspective on Harlem, a key setting in Rockwell's film, which won the Grand Jury Prize for Dramatic Feature at the 2023 Sundance Film Festival. The film stars singer Teyana Taylor as a mother determined to secure her son's future. A Thousand and One will premiere in Italy at the 69th Taormina Film Festival and hits Italian theaters on June 29, 2023. Lodovichi's clean, linear photographic technique captures Harlem's unique atmosphere, architectural perspectives, urban details, and the faces of its residents. "It's not easy, as a director, to reinterpret such an intimate film with such a strong identity," Lodovichi notes. "A story as universal as it is far from my imagination. As a non-American, non-New Yorker, non-resident of Harlem. As a white person. But cinema, its language and codes, are universal." The exhibition runs from June 28 to July 28, 2023, with free admission.
