Stefano Canto's dance performance at Casa Albero in Fregene
On June 16, 2024, artist Stefano Canto (Rome, 1974) presented the performance 'Grafite (Structure II)' at the Casa Sperimentale (Casa Albero) in Fregene, near Rome, celebrating the centenary of the birth of architect Giuseppe Perugini (Buenos Aires, 1914 – Rome, 1995). The house was built between 1968 and 1975 by Perugini, his wife Uga De Plaisant (Rome, 1917 – 2004), and their son Raynaldo Perugini, now an architect and owner. The performance, choreographed by Mario Marozzi with music by Japanese duo Sehno, involved four dancers moving through the brutalist concrete, glass, and steel structure, which features a five-meter-diameter sphere and modular cubes. Two performances took place at 4 PM and 6 PM, followed by guided tours led by Raynaldo Perugini, who shared technical and emotional insights. The house, suspended in a pine forest, is an open, infinitely modular alternative to traditional family homes, though it has suffered vandalism in recent years. The event was organized by Open City Roma.
