Stefano Cagol's Hyperobject Exhibition at MA*GA Gallarate

exhibition · 2026-05-04

The MA*GA museum in Gallarate presents a solo exhibition by Stefano Cagol (born 1969, Trento), titled 'Iperoggetto. Visioni tra confini, energia ed ecologia' (Hyperobject. Visions between borders, energy and ecology). The show draws on philosopher Timothy Morton's concept of hyperobjects—entities distributed across space and time that challenge fundamental ideas about existence, Earth, and society. Curator Alessandro Castiglioni identifies three intertwined themes in Cagol's work: energy, climate, and geopolitical borders. The exhibition is conceived as a single environment where works reference each other in a 'choral space' prompting critical reflection on the present. Cagol's practice combines aesthetic, critical, and ethical dimensions, aiming to influence politics through art. The show is accompanied by a catalog featuring an interview with Blanca de la Torre. Concurrently, MA*GA presents three other exhibitions: a retrospective of Giannetto Bravi (1966–2013, curated by Emma Zanella, until May 5); 'Planète' on experimental cinema by Gianfranco Brebbia, Marinella Pirelli, Bruno Munari, and Marcello Piccardo (curated by Vittoria Broggini, until May 5); and 'Due parallele' featuring photographs by Karina Bikbulatova (curated by Mauro Gervasini, until May 5), winners of the Premio Riccardo Prina Un Racconto Fotografico 2018.
