Stefano Cagol curates 'We are the Flood' at MUSE Trento
Stefano Cagol, an artist born in Trento in 1969, curates 'We are the Flood' at MUSE – Museo delle Scienze di Trento, a year-long platform addressing the Anthropocene and environmental impacts of human actions through contemporary art. The project includes an artist residency, conference series, masterclass, educational workshops, and a program of 'liquid' exhibitions featuring both international and emerging artists under 35 selected via open call. The first liquid exhibition opened April 8 at Palazzo delle Albere with works by six international artists: Eugenio Ampudia (Spain), Nezaket Ekici (Turkey/Germany), Elena Lavelles (Spain), Shahar Marcus (Israel), Hans Op de Beeck (Belgium), and Philip Samartzis (Australia). An open call for artists under 35 runs until May 15, with selected works to be included in the second liquid exhibition in June. Cagol will also connect the program to the 59th Venice Biennale, where he is the only international artist invited to participate in Malaysia's collateral event 'Pera + Flora + Fauna' alongside six Malaysian artists. He will inaugurate that exhibition on April 21 with a performance at the Archivi della Misericordia in Cannaregio, adjacent to the Dutch national pavilion. The project aims to make complex ecological and climatic themes accessible to a broad public through artistic interpretation.
