Stefano Boeri launches global urban forestry campaign video
Architect Stefano Boeri, known for Milan's Bosco Verticale, has issued a video call to action for a global campaign on urban forestry. The initiative aims to increase tree and forest presence in cities to improve biodiversity, safety, comfort, and combat climate change in highly urbanized areas. Boeri cites projections that by 2030, 60% of the world's population will live in cities. The campaign invites architects, urban planners, botanists, institutions, civil society, international organizations, funding agencies, universities, research bodies, and NGOs to submit proposals, experiences, and projects for urban forestry. This effort precedes the first World Forum on Urban Forests, promoted by the FAO, scheduled for November 28 to December 1, 2018, in Mantua, Italy. Submissions can be sent to [email protected] and [email protected]. The video was published on Artribune on December 2017, written by Valentina Silvestrini.
