Stefano Boeri Designs Hanji House for Chun Kwang Young at Venice Biennale

exhibition · 2026-04-27

Korean artist Chun Kwang Young will unveil 'Times Reimagined' at Palazzo Contarini Polignac on April 23, 2022, as part of the 59th Venice Biennale. This exhibition, organized by Fondazione Boghossian as a Collateral Event, showcases 40 large Hanji reliefs crafted from traditional Korean mulberry paper. The exhibition features a unique architectural installation called 'Hanji House,' designed by Stefano Boeri, which takes inspiration from origami and tangram. This wooden and textile structure, referred to as 'paper-tree architecture,' consists of four pyramids on a parallelepiped, creating a central rhombus for events. A forum titled 'The Art and Built Environment in the Age of Ecological Crisis' is scheduled for April 21, with notable participants including Boeri and Otobong Nkanga. The exhibition will be open until November 27, 2022.
