Stefano Arienti's 'Quadrante solare' at Villa Carlotta on Lake Como

From May 13 to September 10, Villa Carlotta on Lake Como hosts Stefano Arienti's solo exhibition 'Quadrante solare,' curated by Fulvio Chimento with Carlotta Minarelli. The show presents nearly forty works, many unpublished, drawn from Arienti's 'Meridiane' series, which traces shadows cast by sunlight. Arienti, born in Asola in 1961 and based in Milan since 1980, created site-specific installations after seasonal visits to the villa. Works are placed both in the botanical garden—among azaleas, camellias, and rhododendrons—and in less frequented areas offering new views of the lake. In the garden, 'Alghe' at the Fontana dei Nani uses plastic cutouts mimicking filamentous plants. Inside the museum, 'Turbine' sculptures made from folded printed paper (newspapers, comics, phone books) are displayed in the Sala di Palamede, near Antonio Canova's sculpture that has been at Villa Carlotta since 1818. The exhibition is organized by Ente Villa Carlotta with support from Associazione Controcorrente.
