Stefanie Hessler appointed curator for MOMENTA/Biennale de l'image 2021 with Sensing Nature theme

Stefanie Hessler will curate the 2021 edition of MOMENTA/Biennale de l'image, bringing her interdisciplinary approach to the biennial. Her curatorial practice emphasizes long-term collaborations with artists and researchers across various fields, examining ecological, economic, and societal systems. Since 2019, Hessler has served as director of Kunsthall Trondheim in Norway. As a writer, she has edited multiple books and contributes regularly to ArtReview and Art-Agenda. For MOMENTA, she plans to explore earth systems as narrators through the theme Sensing Nature. Additional curatorial team members will be announced closer to the biennial's opening. Hessler's appointment marks a significant leadership transition for the 17th edition of the Montreal-based biennial.
