Stedelijk Museum mounts major Jean Tinguely retrospective

Twenty-five years after his death, the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam opens "Machine Spectacle," the most comprehensive Jean Tinguely retrospective in three decades. Running until March 5, 2017, the exhibition features over one hundred kinetic sculptures—most still operational—alongside photographs, drawings, videos, and archival materials. The show traces Tinguely's volcanic, unpredictable, and eclectic career, highlighting his fascination with movement, mechanics, absurdity, and staged destruction.
