Stay Frosty: An Art Fair in a New York Parking Lot

A new art fair called Stay Frosty will take place in a parking lot in West Harlem, New York, from October 24 to 26, 2025, with a second edition already announced for 2026. Organized by gallerists Karin Bravin and John Post Lee, founders of BravinLee Programs, the event invites around 16 galleries to exhibit in parking spaces instead of traditional booths. Exhibitors will use cars or vehicles as display stands, with a rented truck serving as a VIP lounge. No participation fees or sales commissions are charged; the space is provided free by the property owner, Haussmann Development, which plans to build a ten-story residential building on the lot in the next two years. The fair emerged after John Post Lee faced a health issue and closed his SoHo gallery in 2024, leading him to seek alternative, community-focused art events. Participating galleries include Willie Cole, Traci Johnson, Bob's Gallery, Field Projects, Galerie Lucida, Laurie De Chiara, and Debra Simon Consulting. The event is described as a party, festival, site-specific show, and private sale, emphasizing collegial support and mental well-being over commercial pressures. Works will range from monumental sculptures to historical installations and collective focuses on 20th-century avant-gardes.
