States of Earth Exhibition Explores Ecology and Social Justice at Yapı Kredi Kültür Sanat

Yapı Kredi Kültür Sanat presents 'States of Earth', a group exhibition titled after Birhan Keskin's poetry book Yeryüzü Halleri. The show brings together 11 contemporary artists whose works revolve around ecology, featuring media such as painting, performance, photography, video, stained glass, sculpture, and installation. The exhibition emphasizes research and process-based works alongside formal aesthetics, exploring how human beings relate to nature through socio-political relationships and everyday structures. It advocates for sustainability, social justice, and a rights-based approach, drawing on Vandana Shiva's concept of 'Earth Democracy' and Félix Guattari's notion of ecology as an eclectic term. The artists include Begüm Mütevellioğlu, whose stained glass work 'Discover All The Beauties with Us' (2023) is featured. The exhibition critiques colonial and capitalist structures, proposing a non-hierarchical coexistence with all living beings. It runs at Yapı Kredi Kültür Sanat in Istanbul.
