stARTT Wins Competition for Hôtel de Galliffet Restoration in Paris

The Hôtel de Galliffet in Paris will be restored by the Italian firm stARTT, which includes Simone Capra, Claudio Castaldo, Francesco Colangeli, and Dario Scaravelli. This decision was revealed by a jury at the 15th Venice Architecture Biennale. The project, covering 6,500 square meters in Saint-Germain, was commissioned by Marina Valensise, the director of the Italian Cultural Institute in Paris. A scientific committee narrowed down the candidates to nine firms, with stARTT's design featuring an agora for a "Cité des Cultures d'Italie" that incorporates reflective surfaces. The finalist designs are on display at the institute in "Le ali dell'Hôtel de Galliffet." The winners will have a residency there from November 1 to 30, 2016, while Tierstudio received a special mention.
