Stanislao Di Giugno's 'Fugue' Paintings at Tiziana Di Caro, Naples

exhibition · 2026-04-27

At Galleria Tiziana Di Caro in Naples, Stanislao Di Giugno (born 1969, Rome) presents a solo exhibition centered on the concept of 'fuga' (fugue), explored as a physical and metaphorical space reflecting on painting's limits. The show features 31 works titled 'Fughe' and several 'dettagli' (details). The paintings range from large 150×100 cm canvases to small 40×30 cm works, the latter created during lockdown as a daily practice. Di Giugno's abstract language evokes comparisons to Sophie Taeuber-Arp's creamy concretism and references Wilhelm Worringer's 'Abstraction and Empathy'. The 'dettagli' are galvanized iron profiles cut at 45-degree angles, lacquered with acrylic and sometimes polished to reveal painting's soft breath; the first such piece was made for the project 'Insieme' curated by Gianni Politi on Rome's Aurelian Walls. The exhibition is accompanied by a critical text by Davide Ferri.
