Standart Triennial Launches in Armenia with Two-Phase Program

festival-fair · 2026-05-05

In July, Armenia launched the initial segment of its Standart triennial, titled 'The Mount Analogue. A Contemporary Art Experience,' with exhibitions taking place in Yerevan and Gyumri. Scheduled for September are an urban intervention by Felice Varini and a display focused on Lake Sevan. Curated by Adelina Cüberyan von Fürstenberg and Ruben Arevshatyan, this initiative builds on Armenia's success in winning the Golden Lion at the Venice Biennale in 2015. The project is backed by a consortium that includes the Armenian Artes Council and the Ministry of Culture, highlighting works from the first Open Call for Artists. Notable exhibitions feature Gaspar Gasparian's retrospective at AGBU and Ilya & Emilia Kabakov's pieces at Hay-Art Cultural Center, inspired by René Daumal's 'Mount Analogue.'
