SPRITE Pipeline Automates Game UI Translation from Mockups to Engine Assets
A novel pipeline named SPRITE converts static game UI screenshots into editable assets for engines, overcoming the shortcomings of existing screenshot-to-code solutions. By utilizing Vision-Language Models and a structured YAML intermediate format, it effectively captures intricate container relationships and non-rectangular layouts typical in game interfaces. Researchers tested SPRITE against a specialized Game UI benchmark and gathered feedback from professional developers. Results indicate that SPRITE enhances development efficiency by automating repetitive coding tasks and addressing complex nesting challenges. This pipeline promotes swift in-engine iterations, merging artistic design with technical execution. It particularly addresses the difficulties posed by irregular geometries and deep visual hierarchies that current tools struggle with. The study was published on arXiv with identifier 2604.18591v1.
