SPRING/BREAK Art Fair 2015: Curator-Driven Exhibition in Historic Moynihan Station Offices

festival-fair · 2026-04-22

In its fourth iteration, SPRING/BREAK, a curator-led art fair, occupies three levels of 1940s office space at Moynihan Station, situated above the main Post Office on 34th Street. Running through the weekend, the event showcases the work of over 400 artists and 90 curators, with daily hours from noon to 8pm (6pm on Sunday) and an admission fee of $10. Nora Griffin, a contributing editor and exhibitor, likens the fair's vibe to PS1's 1976 "Rooms" show, calling it "very fresh and full of material experimentation," in contrast to "the anti-Forever Now." Notable exhibits include "Paradise Cafe" (Room 3109) by Olivia Smith and "Green" (Room 4008) by RJ Supa and Erin Goldberger, along with "The Ecstasy of Influence" in Room 4030 featuring Erik den Breejen's 2010 piece "Alex Chilton." Guy Nelson co-curates "Enter Aquarium" with David Packer in Rooms 3107-05-09, where they also display their artwork. Nelson mentions that Aquarium, founded in 2013, meets intermittently, akin to a salon. The fair is located at Skylight at Moynihan Station, at the northwest corner of 31st Street and Eighth Avenue, providing a distinctive backdrop in largely untouched former office areas.
