Spotify's AI DJ Expands to Four New Languages

On Thursday, Spotify revealed that its interactive AI DJ feature has expanded to include support for French, German, Italian, and Brazilian Portuguese. This feature, which was initially limited to English and Spanish, enables users to request songs while receiving commentary generated by AI. Each language has its own unique AI DJ with distinct names and personalities: Maia, Ben, Alex, and Dani. The rollout also extends to Austria, Brazil, France, Germany, Italy, Portugal, South Korea, and Switzerland, reaching over 75 countries. After starting with basic commentary, the AI DJ became more engaging in May 2025 when chat capabilities were introduced for mood or genre adjustments. Users can now interact with the AI DJ to play songs in a manner akin to ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini. Spotify is actively enhancing its AI features, including the ability to create custom playlists based on user descriptions.
