Spotify Launches AI Podcast Creation and Q&A Features

Spotify is stepping up its podcast game with new AI tools that let users craft personalized podcasts using prompts, links, PDFs, or text. They’ve rolled out a command-line tool for Claude Code and Codex on GitHub, enabling users to create and save podcasts right into their Spotify libraries, with plans for in-app features soon. Users can choose to receive updates daily or weekly on topics or make one-off explanatory podcasts, complete with custom voice choices. They’re also launching a desktop app called Studio by Spotify Labs, which integrates with your email and calendar for tailored briefings. Plus, an AI Q&A feature is coming for Premium mobile users in the U.S., Sweden, and Ireland. Since April, they’ve also introduced a prompt-based playlist feature. Video podcast streaming has surged by 50% year-on-year, and Spotify is expanding sponsorship tools and subscription options for creators, similar to platforms like Instagram and Facebook.
