Sponz Fest 2016 launches crowdfunding for arts in Alta Irpinia

Vinicio Capossela's Sponz Fest, a festival of music and folk traditions in Alta Irpinia, has launched a crowdfunding campaign on Eppela to fund artistic events that 'escape any commercial logic.' The 2016 edition, titled 'Chi tiene polvere spara,' runs August 22–28 across eight municipalities: Calitri, Cairano, Conza, Andretta, Sant'Angelo dei Lombardi, Sant'Andrea di Conza, and Bisaccia. The €20,000 goal will finance art exhibitions at Borgo Castello, a Sergio Leone exhibition, and a Teatro delle Albe production of Antigone among the ancient ruins of Conza. Capossela's concert is the only paid event, subsidizing free access to all other programming. The campaign, active until August 4, has raised €8,730 so far, with an additional €5,000 co-financing from PostepayCrowd (Postepay, Visa, Eppela). The festival previously attracted 35,000 attendees and revived a disused railway line connecting forgotten villages. Past editions received small public grants from the Campania Region.
