SPF:architects' Harper Avenue Apartments in West Hollywood Features Bronze Corrugated Metal Facade

SPF:architects, led by Zoltan E. Pali, FAIA, has completed Harper Avenue Apartments, a four-story multifamily housing project in West Hollywood, California. Located one block south of Sunset Boulevard, the development replaces an earlier proposal, increasing from 14 to 17 two-bedroom apartments, each averaging about 1,400 square feet. The design organizes higher density around open spaces, including a raised front courtyard and a central open-air courtyard, to improve daylight and ventilation. Corner-unit layouts maximize natural light, and outdoor areas such as private decks, patios, and rooftop terraces extend living spaces. Ground-floor units have individual entrances and on-grade parking, resembling detached housing. The exterior features a bronze corrugated metal facade with folded surfaces that reflect the internal apartment arrangement, reducing the perceived scale.
