exhibition · 2026-04-19

From February 7 to March 28, 2015, The James Gallery and e-flux in New York hosted the exhibition 'Specters of Communism: Contemporary Russian Art,' curated by Boris Groys. This showcase highlighted eight artists associated with 'Russian post-conceptual realism,' emphasizing social and political themes through various mediums such as films, photographs, and documents. Among the prominent pieces were Chto Delat's film 'The Excluded. In a moment of danger' (2014), Arseny Zhilyaev's silent video 'The Inauguration' (2012), and Anton Ginzburg's 'Walking the Sea' (2013). Additionally, Jeff and Alina Bliumis displayed 'A Painting for a Family Dinner' (2008-2013). A symposium held on February 9, 2015, included discussions connecting the exhibition to the legacy of the 1917 October Revolution.
