Speaking After the Body Opens Dissent Series in Trieste
The international Dissent Series' inaugural exhibition, Speaking After the Body, will launch on May 19 at Sala Veruda in Trieste. Curated by Lorenzo Lazzari and organized by Adriatico Book Club ETS, the showcase includes works from Carloni-Franceschetti, Shadi Harouni, and Madeleine Ruggi, focusing on how images, sounds, and objects capture memories of protest and resistance. Lazzari references Jacques Rancière's notion of dissent as a catalyst for change. Ruggi's sound installation brings to life songs from early 20th-century port workers, while Carloni-Franceschetti's pieces suggest floating bodies. Harouni's photographs feature dried flowers on graves in Tehran. The exhibition, designed by Giuditta Trani with a pink color scheme reminiscent of ACT UP protests, will also include a free publication with a response from Miriam De Rosa, and a finissage event discussing sound and dissent.
