Spazio7Lab: Artistic Gelateria Opens in Turin by Emilio Re Rebaudengo
Emilio Re Rebaudengo, second son of Patrizia Sandretto, has opened Spazio7Lab, an art-themed gelateria in central Turin at via Maria Vittoria 37/F. The space features a psychedelic wallpaper by Canadian artist Paul Kneale, known for his scanner paintings, inspired by his work Active Now from the Spazio7 restaurant. The gelato is made fresh continuously using high-quality ingredients curated by chef Alessandro Mecca and pastry chef Andrea Monti. The soft opening occurred over a month ago, with an official inauguration planned for late September. Re Rebaudengo aims to expand the concept to Madrid and Barcelona by next summer, coinciding with the second location of the Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo at Matadero Madrid, which will also host a Spanish branch of his restaurant. The gelateria is designed to be highly Instagrammable, encouraging social media sharing. The project was initially conceived a year ago but paused after Spazio7 received a Michelin star.
